Before We Set Sail
Terms and play notes for Sea Battles.
A Game in the Making
Sea Battles is available in your browser for early playtesting with friends and computers. Features and balance may change. Native App Store and Google Play releases are still being prepared.
Billing and purchase restoration are not configured. The Pro preview shows extra seats and Cherry Notes, but it does not charge you or grant Pro. Game scores and optional standings are for friendly competition. They have no cash value.
The Rules on Paper
- Place five straight boats on a private 10 × 10 board: lengths 5, 4, 3, 3, and 2.
- After the countdown, all captains can fire during the same round. Each shot resolves immediately. Each round gives you as many shots as there were starting captains.
- Aim at a rival, then choose Fire Shot. You can split your shots between rivals.
- Rounds last 30, 25, 20, 15, then 10 seconds. Unused shots expire. Your game does not fire them for you.
- A hit earns 10 points; the final hit that sinks a boat adds 20. The last survivor earns 50.
- Eliminated captains and people who join mid-game can watch. Leaving a live game forfeits your place; refreshing the page does not.
Computer practice is recorded separately from games with friends.
Be Good Crew
Choose a respectful player name. Invite people who want to play. Don’t harass other players, impersonate someone, share another person’s private information, or try to access their account or hidden board.
Report a bug instead of using it to disrupt another game. Keep sign-in codes and private room links out of public posts.
Something Went Overboard?
A connection problem can interrupt play while the room timer continues. If something doesn’t work as expected, send us a note with your browser, device, and the steps that led to it.
